← All ballots, bookings and permits
Start with Matariki's online forest induction: it is required for all access, and it is where they tell you what permit you need.
- First step
- The online forest induction, for all access
- Then
- Permit requirements are given once you finish it
Exactly as Matariki publishes it
All forest access is subject to you completing our online forest induction.
On completion of our online forest induction, permit access requirements will be provided.
Recent cutting in this forest
The map shows where the trees were cleared in each year since 2011, coloured by age: yellow for the last three years, orange for four to seven, brown for older. In a plantation that age decides what you walk into: open slash and new seedlings, then thick regrowth, then a closing canopy.
Open the map and zoom into the forest → What the colours mean
Satellite-detected tree loss, so slips, storms and fire show up too. It says nothing about where this permit lets you go: the permit and the forest’s own map decide that, and an active harvest is closed.

The ballots, bookings, fees and rules belong to the organisers — we list them, we don’t run them. We last read this on Fri 9 Oct 2026 and check the page every day; if it changes, the details come off until we have read it again.
